Call for Oakland volunteers

The Oakland Planning and Development Corporation is a recipient of a "Love Your Block" grant from the city of Pittsburgh. They are using the funds to rehabilitate the exterior of an old senior center that is located at the corner of Semple and Louisa. There are plans to turn this building into a career center that will house JobLinks and a "School 2 Career" program.

The OPDC is planning a work day based around the center on June 16 and is looking for volunteers. Meet at 258 Semple Street (corner of Semple and Louisa) at 1:00 p.m. for a variety of activities (canvassing, cleaning/organizing, planting, and clean up). Dress for the weather, in clothes you don't mind dirtying, and wear comfortable shoes. The events should conclude by 5:00 p.m. Snacks will be provided.

RSVP by emailing Danielle Atkins, ODPC program manager, or by calling 412-621-7863, extension 24.
