Citizens Against Litter

No good deed...

The other "P" city in our fair state has ruffled more than a few feathers with its clumsy handling of a situation where a private business owner took the initiative to clean up a vacant city-owned lot next to his business at his own expense. We here in Pittsburgh wonder if a similar "good citizen" occurrence happens in our neck of the woods (and it probably will or does), how will our city officials behave? Is Mr./Mrs. Do-gooder praised and ordinances overlooked (and publicized), or is our good citizen sent to the woodshed like in Philly?

We hope that the success of our citizen-driven experiment here, which is fast approaching its ninth year in existence, as well as the city-led servePGH and Love Your Block initiatives are positive indicators that the city and its residents are on the same page.
