Citizens Against Litter

Vacant lots as creative opportunities

The City Walkabout blog, authored by the Post-Gazette's Diana Nelson Jones, has been a great source of information over the years. Nelson Jones has a wonderful eye for street-level happenings, and has always been a strong supporter of bottom-up efforts such as ours to improve the vitality of Pittsburgh's streets. City Walkabout, then, looks to get even better with the addition of CMU faculty member and certified city planner Christine Grazlano. In her first post for Walkabout, Grazlano pulls a page from the creative platemaking playbook and makes a case for Pittsburgh's many vacant lots as places where exciting things can happen, where blight and litter don't necessarily rule the day. We couldn't agree more.
