200 communities & 10,000 volunteers set for Fall Redd Up; Pitt Make a Difference Day will bolster turnout

More than 200 Pittsburgh neighborhoods, Allegheny County communities and groups are expected to participate in the Fall Redd Up on Saturday, Oct. 24. Pitt Make a Difference Day volunteers, doing their day of community service on the same day, will bolster the turnout. A total of 10,000 volunteers is projected. People interested in volunteering and finding a neighborhood to hook up with should contact Boris Weinstein at 412-688-9120 or e-mail

"The Fall Redd Up usually attracts half the participation numbers of the Spring/Earth Day Redd Up," said Boris Weinstein of Citizens Against Litter, one of the organizers. Weinstein projects that volunteers will collect more than 200 tons of litter.
