Litter Patrol Update

Plans are afoot in Squirrel Hill for a regular Sunday afternoon pickup session. Called "Family Clean Up," he goal of the program is to raise awareness of the city's litter problem and motivate others to pick up litter wherever and whenever they see it.

The walks begin on March 2nd. Volunteers will meet at Bruegger's Bagels on Murray Avenue starting at 1 p.m. to pick up gloves, bags, and street assignments. Volunteers will walk and talk with family and friends picking up litter for about an hour, placing their full bags in city trash bins.

An organizer of the events, Barb Grover, says, "Aside from the fact that littering is against the law, damages the environment, and can create health problems, we wish to enhance everyone's pride in our community by making it a clean and aesthetically pleasant place to live and work."

The complete schedule of dates has been placed on the Citizens Against Litter events calendar.
